The aim of the curriculum which was formed according to the interdisciplinary notion is to educate designers who define the necessities easily, seize the opportunities, know how to reach the information they need, evaluate what is going on around them and turn these evaluations into reasonable and innovative designing solutions. Our Department also aims at educating professionals who define, acquire, produce and multiply the information they need rather that becoming equipped with static information repertory, who can combine data coming from different disciplines, draining them with critical and analytic thinking and who are inclined to group works.

Designing workshops are of the first and utmost importance during the four-year education and they are in the centre of learning process. Students receive fundamental designing education carried out in parallel with other designing departments in their first year. They not only try to come up with new ideas to the industrial design problems with different scale and complexity but also sharpen their creativity and technical capacity in the following years. Workshops studies are supported with the specialized courses focusing on designing culture and technology. Designing Theories and Methods, History of Designing, Material and Manufacturing Techniques, Structure, Ergonomics, Product Development and Designing Methods are included in these specialized courses. These two groups are also supported with courses about prototype production, free hand drawing and visualization techniques, computer aided design, modelling and presentation techniques.
